The Spot
The Breakfast Den sits at the corner of 15th and South in Graduate Hospital, a small, bohemian cafe run by Chef Huyen, whose menu draws on her immigrant upbringing in Philadelphia to blend American and Vietnamese breakfast traditions. The room is intimate, the kind of place where neighborhood regulars settle in with matcha lattes on weekday mornings.

The menu covers familiar American ground — an egg-and-cheese sandwich, mini bacho cakes — but the Vietnamese dishes are where it distinguishes itself: crispy eggplant banh mi, breakfast rice bowls, and the Thit Ko Hash, a plate of pulled pork, jalapeño, melted cheddar, and two fried eggs. A hibiscus lemonade and a sunny back patio round out the weekend routine, when lines form outside for tables.

The kitchen has built a reputation for quality ingredients and flavorful cooking at accessible prices, though service can vary depending on when you catch it.
