The Spot
Gabrielle Restaurant has been a fixture of New Orleans dining since 1992, originally on Esplanade Avenue. Hurricane Katrina forced a twelve-year closure before the restaurant reopened on Orleans Avenue in September 2017, at the edge of Tremé. It remains a small, family-run operation co-owned by Chefs Mary and Greg Sonnier, with Greg cooking Cajun food layered with New Orleans flair.

The menu centers on long-running favorites: Slow Roasted Duck, a New Orleans-style Barbecue Shrimp Pie, and Peppermint Patti for dessert. Reviewers also point to the trout and the kitchen's pastry work as standouts.

Chef Greg Sonnier was a James Beard Foundation Best Chef finalist in 2005. NOLA.com's Where NOLA Eats named Gabrielle among the city's best restaurants in 2025.
