The Wash sits at 1101 McKennie Avenue, an adaptive renovation of a former car wash where each of the six original bays now runs as its own restaurant or bar. The concept was built as an incubator space, giving local chefs and operators a lower-cost way into a permanent spot without building out a standalone restaurant.
The bays cover a wide spread. Leche de Tigre, led by Chef Roberto, serves Peruvian ceviches, sandwiches, chaufas, and lomos. Soy Cubano brings Miami-style Cuban sandwiches and bowls. SS GAI is a Thai chicken shop built around gai young and gai tod, served with sticky rice and seasonal sides. Sweeza specializes in Mission-style super quesadillas suizas, and East Side Pho, from Chef Gracie Nguyen and the team behind East Side Banh Mi, serves Vietnamese pho, salads, and noodle bowls.
Fly Pelican Fly, from the same crew behind East Side Banh Mi, East Side Pho, and Sweeza, rounds out the hall as its bar, pouring draft cocktails alongside breakfast-through-late-night bites. Seating is largely outdoor and covered on a shared patio, with limited interior seating at Fly Pelican Fly, and pets are welcome throughout the space.
