The Spot
Cochinita & Co. was founded in 2016 by immigrant chef Victoria Elizondo, who began serving Mexican comida casera under a tent before building it into a restaurant with locations in the East End and Near Northside, alongside a manufacturing business built on the same recipes.

The menu leans on homestyle Mexican cooking, and chilaquiles have become the dish regulars keep ordering, served in portions that run generous for the price. Diners consistently point to the food as authentic and the service as attentive, the kind of place that reads as a neighborhood find even as it's grown.

Elizondo has been a two-time James Beard Foundation semifinalist, recognized for Emerging Chef in 2023 and Best Chef Texas in 2024. The restaurant has also landed on Eater's Eater 38 and Houstonia Magazine's 2025 best-of list.
