Mike's Cheesesteaks opened February 18, 2020, weathering a brief COVID closure within its first weeks as a founding tenant of Gather GVL. Run by Andrew and Michelle, whose Philly roots show up in the branding and in bread shipped in from Liscio's bakery in New Jersey, the shop built a loyal following on cheesesteaks, Italian roast pork, and hoagies.
Mike's has since relocated inside Harry's Hoagie Shoppe at 1700 East North Street in Greenville, keeping the same food and the same people behind the counter. The menu stays focused on the sandwiches that built the business rather than expanding into new territory.
The move brought a new setting, and Mike's has carried a strong repeat customer base with it, including guests who first found the shop back at Gather GVL. Mike's Cheesesteaks was included in the Eater 38.
