Our Take

Wild Common cooks a tasting menu that treats Lowcountry seafood as a luxury ingredient class — local catch alongside caviar, truffle, and wagyu — with Orlando Pagán running the kitchen at star level since Charleston's first guide recognition.

The name comes from a D.H. Lawrence poem, and the room lives up to the literary bent: composed, quietly romantic, serious without ceremony. Charleston has louder fine dining. It doesn't have much that's this considered.

The Spot
Wild Common sits at 103 Spring Street in Cannonborough-Elliotborough, its name a nod to D.H. Lawrence's poem "All that is right, all that is good." Executive Chef Orlando Pagán runs a multi-course tasting menu built around local seafood, with luxury additions like caviar, black truffle, foie gras, and wagyu worked in throughout.

The restaurant offers a few different ways to experience the menu: the main dining room, an Interactive Chef's Counter set up for a closer view of the open kitchen, and The Overlook, a private mezzanine seating up to twelve guests that looks down over the courtyard and dining room.

Wild Common partners with the Charleston Artist Collective, rotating work from local Lowcountry artists through the dining room and onto its menus as part of an ongoing series.

The restaurant holds a Michelin star, and Pagán was named a James Beard Foundation Best Chef semifinalist in 2022. Wild Common was also named to Charleston City Paper's Best of 2026 list and included among Condé Nast Traveler's 40 Best Restaurants in Charleston.
