Poor Hendrix is owned by husband-and-wife team Aaron and Jamie Russell, who set out in 2013 to build a place of their own after a trip through Spain and France. Aaron came up through Atlanta kitchens including Nikolai's Roof, Seeger's, The Dining Room, and Restaurant Eugene before he and Jamie found the small, old building at Hosea & 2nd and turned it into the intimate, casual spot they'd been planning.
The result is a neighborhood restaurant and bar with simple food and a solid drink list, run with a low-key, welcoming feel and a staff that's been around long enough to know the regulars by name.
Poor Hendrix has been named to the Eater 38 and was Selected by the Michelin Guide in both 2024 and 2025.
