Donatello has operated in Tampa's North Bon Air neighborhood for more than 40 years, founded by the late Guido Tiozzo and now run by his son, Gino. The family's roots trace to Venice, and that seafood-driven heritage shows up alongside dishes pulled from other regions of Italy.
The menu is organized geographically rather than around one regional style. Calamari Amalfitana and Capelli al Pomodoro represent the south, Scottadita alla Romana and veal Saltimbocca come from Rome, a Chianti-sauced strip steak stands in for Florence, and Osso Buco Milanese — braised veal shank with saffron risotto — represents Milan. From the Tiozzo family's own Venetian background come dishes like Linguine alle Vongole and a seafood risotto built on clams, mussels, shrimp, and scallops. Pasta is made by hand daily.
Beyond the main dining room, Donatello runs a banquet room for private events and celebrations, along with a jazz lounge that features live music.
