Sonoma Pizza Co. is a family operation built by husband-and-wife team Chris Smith and Eda Atasoy, Forestville locals since 2018. Chris, a hospitality veteran with multiple bars and restaurants in San Francisco, learned to make pizza from Tony Gemignani before opening this spot; Eda, a graphic designer by trade, handles the restaurant's design and branding.
The crust is naturally leavened sourdough made from organic flour sourced in Petaluma and cold-fermented for 72 hours before it hits the oven. Mozzarella and provolone come from Grande, and produce is sourced locally and organically from Sonoma County farms. Every pizza can be made gluten-free or vegan at no extra charge, alongside a range of veggie and dairy-free options.
Beyond the pizza, the restaurant runs a small wine shop featuring a rotating, curated selection of California producers, plus a broader beverage program. A patio garden adds an outdoor dining option, and the space has built a reputation as pet-friendly and family-welcoming — the kind of place regulars consider worth the drive.
