Que Chevere started as a food truck before Maria Fernanda and Orvid Cutler moved it into a permanent space at 142 W. Main St. in Downtown Mesa. Fernanda moved to the United States from Barquisimeto, Venezuela in 2003; after she shared her home cooking with Cutler, the two decided to bring it to a wider audience, first on the road and eventually in a fixed location.
