Our Take

The Chicago formula arrived in Scottsdale intact: the roar, the sparkle, the towers, the sense that every table is celebrating something.

What didn't survive the trip is a reason to order the steak. The beef is middling beneath the wattage, an imported scene running on brand momentum in a city that already had serious chophouses of its own. As a party, it competes. As a steakhouse, it never unpacked.

The Spot
Maple & Ash sits on East Camelback Road in South Scottsdale, one of four locations for a group that also operates in Chicago, Boston, and Miami. The menu across the group is crafted by chef Danny Grant, and the Scottsdale room carries the brand's maximalist, celebration-driven take on the steakhouse format.

The menu spans steakhouse staples and seafood-forward dishes: a seafood tower, caviar, and oysters sit alongside octopus, bone marrow, agnolotti, and truffle potatoes. Brunch service has its own following, with a sundae among the dishes regulars mention.

The wine program has been recognized by Wine Spectator as one of the most outstanding in the world.
