De Babel is a neighborhood counter-service restaurant serving Middle Eastern food in Scottsdale's Northsight area. It was founded by Marwan Kandeel, who spent nearly three decades in food and beverage operations with companies including Five Guys, Cinnabon, Seattle's Best Coffee, Carvel, and Zaatar W Zeit before opening his own concept.
The kitchen makes its mezza from scratch daily — hummus and baba ghanoush among them — and sources Australian lamb, Black Angus beef, and fresh Idaho potatoes, cooking with extra virgin olive oil throughout. Meats are grilled to order. Halal standards run across the menu. The lineup covers classic sandwiches like chicken tawook and gyro, entrees such as lamb tikka and meat kafta, and sides including truffle cheese fries alongside the standard cut.
