Screamin' Mimi's opened in 2007, started by Louis "Big Lou" Cobello and his wife Scarlet "Mimi" Cobello, the restaurant's namesake. Their children, Louie and Tara, have since taken over, keeping it a family-run operation in Savannah's North Historic District.
The menu leans on Atlantic City and Philadelphia roots: hand-tossed, house-made dough baked in brick ovens, hoagies built on house-made rolls, and a rotating lineup of pasta and salads. Slices, 18-inch pies, and 11-inch hoagies anchor the menu alongside baked ziti, a Philly cheesesteak, and a Margherita pizza made with the restaurant's own sauce and dough. The space doubles as a gallery, with local art on display throughout the dining room.
Screamin' Mimi's has developed a following for its New York-style pizza among regulars in the neighborhood.
