Submarine Center has been serving made-to-order subs in West Portal since 1981, a counter-service spot where the hot pastrami sub — tangy, toasted, and loaded with thin-sliced smoked meat — is the thing people come back for. The Atomic stacks pastrami, turkey, and corned beef together, and a mayo-dressed hot sub with avocado, turkey, and melted swiss has its own following. Sandwiches come in three sizes, mini, center, and the full-length super, served hot or cold, with pizza also on the menu.
