Our Take

Pearl 6101 is the neighborhood restaurant every neighborhood wishes it had on its corner. The Richmond got lucky with this one. Dim globe lights, cushy leather booths, tall white walls that keep the room feeling open instead of cramped — it's built for the date that runs long and the quick catch-up that turns into three rounds of cocktails.

The food backs up the room. The menu rotates with the seasons, but the white bolognese over handkerchief pasta and the chicory caesar buried in crispy fried prosciutto have stuck around because they've earned it — rich, confident cooking that doesn't need a gimmick to justify the check. The Mediterranean label is loose, more a starting point than a rulebook, and that looseness is working in the kitchen's favor.

Service matches the ambition, and the crowd keeps coming back for a reason: this is the kind of consistency that's hard to fake over time. It's noisy, and it isn't cheap, but neither complaint undercuts what's on the plate.

Michelin took notice, naming it in the guide's latest selection. That's confirmation, not the argument. The argument is a kitchen that treats a neighborhood spot like it still has something to prove.

The Spot
Pearl 6101 serves California-inspired Mediterranean cooking with a cocktail list built to match, in a Richmond District room meant for lingering: dim globe lights, cushy leather booths, and tall white walls that keep the space feeling airy rather than cramped.

The menu rotates seasonally, but two dishes have stayed fixed as the ones regulars return for — a rich white bolognese over silky handkerchief pasta, and a chicory caesar finished with crispy fried prosciutto. Service has built a reputation for warmth, and the kind of consistency that keeps the Richmond's local crowd coming back.

The restaurant was selected for the Michelin Guide in 2026.
