The Spot
Mashaallah serves halal Pakistani and South Asian food from a counter-service space on 5th Street in SoMa, having relocated there after its original home in the Westfield mall food court closed. The menu has carried over largely unchanged: lamb dishes are a strength, with the steam-roast lamb shank falling off the bone and the lamb korma cooked soft enough to barely hold its shape, both served over rice or alongside biryani studded with crisp bits. Vegetarian plates hold their own too, including a bright aloo palak and a chana masala that shows up on most combo plates.

Breakfast and appetizer offerings include halwa puri and hand-made parathas (plain, potato-stuffed, onion-stuffed, or cauliflower-stuffed), while Gulab Jamun is listed as a signature dessert. All meat served is zabiha halal.

The dining room is large, with a back patio, and regulars describe the owner and staff as welcoming. The room itself functions mainly as a place to sit and eat rather than a draw on its own — the food is the reason people come.
