Fikscue started in Alameda before crossing the bay to open a second spot in Mission Bay, right next to Chase Center. The kitchen works in both Indonesian and Texas-style barbecue traditions — meats are slow-cooked, smoked, and dry-rubbed — then combines the two into dishes that aren't found elsewhere in the Bay Area.
The menu runs through stir-fried macaroni goreng topped with corned beef, a large dry-rubbed dino rib, and rendang made with brisket cooked tender enough to pull apart by hand. Service is counter-style, with self-serve water and paper ramekins for house sauces.
The dino ribs and beef cheeks have built a following as the kitchen's standout dishes, and the Indonesian-barbecue combination has become the restaurant's calling card, though execution has been described as inconsistent from visit to visit.
