Amy opened this Fox Point spot in 2000 with a loan from her grandmother, taking over the old Virgin Café space on Wickenden Street. The idea was simple: a neighborhood restaurant where locals and students could grab coffee, breakfast, or lunch in an unpretentious space. She's run it since with her sister Ari and a longtime staff.
The kitchen has upgraded from electric skillets to a full restaurant setup over the years, but the format hasn't changed — a daily-rotating menu of breakfast and lunch plates. House specialties include The Hangover, a bolo sandwich stacked with egg, cheddar, bacon, spinach, onion, guacamole, and hot sauce; breakfast tacos with scrambled egg, black beans, and jalapeno crema; a classic Amy's Burger; and the Hella Bomb Smoothie, blending banana, pineapple, raspberry, coconut milk, and guava juice.
Weekend crowds are a known part of the experience here, with lines that build early, but regulars keep coming back for the value and the consistency of the food itself.
