Zahav has served Israeli cuisine from Society Hill since 2008, built by chef Michael Solomonov and co-owner Steve Cook as part of their CookNSolo Restaurants group. The cooking draws from Israeli hospitality traditions even as the cuisine itself keeps shifting. A 14-seat bar within the restaurant is open to both walk-ins and reservations.
Zahav won the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Restaurant award in 2019, the first Israeli-American restaurant to receive that honor, following Solomonov's Outstanding Chef win for his work at Zahav in 2017. The restaurant has since landed on Michelin's Selected list for 2025, Robb Report's Best New Restaurants for 2026, and Philadelphia Magazine's Best of 2025, alongside earlier recognition from StarChefs' Rising Stars program and Eater's Essential 38.
