The Spot
Queen Trini Lisa is run by Lisa Nelson, a native of Trinidad & Tobago who cooks under the name Queen Trini Lisa. Her food, which she calls Trinbagonian Island Soul Food, draws on African, East Indian, and Asian influences blended through Caribbean spices and ingredients. Before settling into her D'Hemecourt Street space in Mid-City, she built a following cooking at pop-ups and festivals around New Orleans.

The menu is organized around entrees, sandwiches and po'boys, and sides, with doubles getting their own shoutout in the restaurant's tagline, "More Doubles, Less Troubles."

Regulars describe a family-owned spot with strong host personalities and a loyal base of repeat customers — the kind of place where the welcome feels as personal as the food.
