Our Take

Pao by Paul Qui plants itself in Mid-Beach with a straightforward promise: Asian cooking with intent, not a buffet of borrowed cuisines stitched together for tourists. The name on the door carries weight, and the kitchen built around it earns the attention rather than coasting on it.

There isn't a long paper trail here, and the house doesn't need one to make the case. What's on the plate reads as confident, specific, unafraid to let individual flavors stand instead of blurring into fusion mush. That's rarer in this stretch of Miami than it should be.

The Michelin Guide selected Pao in 2026, which tracks with what the room already feels like: a restaurant operating with real discipline, not just riding a name. Go in expecting precision. That's what you'll get.

The Spot
Pao by Paul Qui sits inside the Faena Hotel's golden dome on Mid-Beach, a room built around warm light, sculptural design, and the hotel's signature golden unicorn. The kitchen is led by chef Paul Qui, born in Manila and trained in classic French and Japanese technique, who works Filipino, Spanish, Japanese, and French influences into a modern Asian menu built around charcoal and smoke cooking.

Dinner runs as a plated fine-dining menu with a Caviar Service and Uni Experience alongside dishes like Foie Gras, Wagyu Carpaccio, and nigiri.

Michelin selected Pao by Paul Qui for its 2026 guide.
