The Spot
Le Fou Frog opened in 1996 on the corner of 5th and Oak in Kansas City's River Market, run by Chef/Proprietor Mano Rafael and his wife Barbara. The room leans into soft lighting and cozy, close-set tables, with an atmosphere the owners have always aimed to keep relaxing, fun, and unpretentious rather than formal.

The menu holds to French staples: escargot, French onion soup, duck, and a tarte tatin that regulars keep ordering. Lobster tail and puff pastry dishes appear alongside those, with a wine list built to go with the food.

Nearly three decades on, it remains a fixture of the River Market, still run day-to-day by Mano and Barbara Rafael themselves.
