1587 Prime is a spectacle first and a steakhouse second, and it mostly earns the split. The bi-level room downtown, partly owned by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, goes all in on the theater: a winding staircase, heavy marble, a lounge singer working the crowd. It's the kind of place built for a big night out, and on that level it delivers.

The food is a mixed bag around the edges. The crab cakes, the meatballs, the wedge salad — none of them rise above what you'd get at any steakhouse chasing an occasion crowd. But the center of the plate is where this restaurant actually argues its case. The wagyu is the reason to come, cooked with the kind of precision that makes the surrounding noise forgivable.
