German Village Coffee Shop opened in 1981 on Thurman Avenue in German Village, the historic neighborhood on the south edge of downtown Columbus, and the diner still looks much as it did when it started. It's a breakfast-and-lunch operation, serving house coffee alongside a menu built around the Western Omelet, the club sandwich, and a rotating list of daily lunch specials. The place fills up on weekends, drawing a neighborhood crowd back to a room that hasn't chased any trends.
