The Spot
Awash takes its name from an Ethiopian market town, and carries that reference through in its furnishings, including straw-woven tables set in a traditional style. Sitting on Broadway in Edgewater, among the neighborhood's cluster of Ethiopian restaurants, it has built a following among expats drawn to its cooking.

Doro Wat — the chicken and hard-boiled egg stew — is the restaurant's best-selling dish. Regulars have also developed a following for the vegetarian combo platter and the fava bean spread, served alongside other spiced dishes in the traditional communal style.
