The Spot
Tesfa Cuisine traces back to a family from a small village in the southernmost part of Ethiopia, near the border of Kenya — a family pushed from place to place by drought, tribal conflict, and war before building a life in Chicago. That history sits behind the restaurant's presence in Edgewater today.

The menu runs through Ethiopian staples built around injera: sambusa, quanta fir-fir, and siga wot among them, with vegetarian and meat combination platters designed for sharing at the table.

The Broadway space offers both an indoor dining room, done up with warm lighting, and a rooftop patio looking out over the city. Regulars describe the food as homemade and authentic, with a welcoming, family-run feel that carries through the service.
