The Spot
Muse occupies an old Charleston house on Society Street in Ansonborough, the kind of address that keeps its residential bones even as a dining room. The menu works in a Mediterranean register, with reviewers pointing to bruschetta, bibb salad, and a cheese plate on one end and sea bass, veal scallopini, scallops, duck, and steak on the other, with a trifle for dessert.

The wine list draws its own following here, often mentioned alongside the food as a reason regulars keep coming back. The kitchen's cooking earned a James Beard Foundation Best Chef semifinalist nod in 2008.

Reputation on the place is split: some visits are praised for atmosphere, service, and food that feels like a local gem, while others describe inconsistent execution and service that doesn't match the setting.
