Heavy's Barburger takes its name from founder John Haire's grandfather, a North-West Florida community fixture nicknamed "Heavy" for his farming, churchgoing, and habit of feeding everyone who showed up at his table. That's the model here: a neighborhood spot built around shared plates and a loud playlist.
The kitchen griddles smashburgers from a proprietary blend of Angus short rib, brisket, and chuck roll, including the double-patty Barburger with American cheese, tomato, red onion, lettuce, pickles, and Heavy's Sauce. Fried chicken gets a saltwater-and-sugar brine before a buttermilk marinade, showing up hand-breaded on the Fried Chicken Salad with cheddar, bacon, and sweet potato straws. Jumbo wings come tossed in Red Ranger Sauce, Wright Sauce, or a lemon pepper dry rub, and the onion rings are hand-cut in house. Produce is sourced fresh and local when in season, and the Lemon Lime Icebox Pie closes things out.
Behind the bar, Shorty Margaritas are built on tequila and fresh-squeezed juices alongside local draft beer.
