Dali is a Spanish tapas restaurant in Somerville, co-founded by Mario Leon and Tamara Bourso. The room has been layered with decoration for roughly three decades, filled with tchotchkes that include a golden bedazzled fish skeleton and a clothesline of undergarments strung through an interior archway — a maximalist, old-school tapas den rather than a minimalist one.
The menu runs the length of a traditional Spanish spread: cold tapas like pa amb tomàquet, tortilla española, and jamón ibérico de bellota from acorn-fed pigs alongside jamón serrano aged at least a year; hot tapas such as sopa de ajo and grilled shishito peppers, plus garlicky shrimp; and full plates including paella valenciana with chicken, chorizo, and morcilla, and a seafood paella built on shellfish and saffron. Churros with chocolate sauce, tarta de Santiago, and flan cover dessert.
Sangria made with red wine is a regular order alongside the paellas, and the restaurant has built a reputation as a reliably busy spot for group and family dinners.
