The Spot
Eagle's Restaurant has served soul food in Birmingham's Acipco-Finley neighborhood since 1951, sitting one block south of the American Cast Iron Pipe Company plant that gave the area its name. It remains family-owned, with a stated commitment to affordable prices and quality meats and vegetables.

The restaurant draws on the Jefferson County Farmers Market, a mile away, for collard greens, cabbage, sweet potatoes, and other produce. The site honors the life of Mr. Joseph E. Rucker as part of its history.

Regulars point to the cooking as authentic and generous, with sides that hold their own alongside the meats, and service that moves fast even when the room is full.
