Our Take

Lazy Betty carried its modern tasting menu to Midtown on its own terms: Ron Hsu and Aaron Phillips built it around inventive multi-course dinners in a room designed for intimacy rather than intimidation, with a playfulness the format usually beats out of kitchens.

The star has held since Atlanta's first guide, and the Beard attention started almost at opening. The name promises ease; the cooking delivers precision. Living on both sides of that line is the restaurant's entire personality, and it works.

The Spot
Lazy Betty sits on Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta, where the kitchen works through a tasting menu built around modern, innovative cooking. The room is designed to feel intimate rather than formal, with courses and pairings guiding the pace of the meal.

Caviar and duck preparations turn up often among the dishes diners point to, and the wine and drink pairings built around each course have become part of the draw. Service is frequently singled out for walking guests through the menu course by course.

Michelin has awarded Lazy Betty one star every year from 2023 through 2025. The James Beard Foundation named it a semifinalist for Best Chef Southeast in 2023 and for Best New Restaurant in 2020, and it was a StarChefs Rising Stars honoree in 2023. It also holds a spot on the Eater 38 and was named to Atlanta magazine's best restaurants list in 2025.

Lazy Betty also runs private dining rooms for events, extending the same kitchen into group settings.
