Carol and Sam Morphy set out to bring a New Haven-style pizza to Sonoma, testing and refining a crust recipe before opening The Red Grape just off the town's historic plaza. That thin, crispy crust, high-fired in a stone-lined pizza oven, remains the foundation of the menu.
Pizzas come topped with a range of ingredients, alongside fresh, locally made pasta and a rotating lineup of gourmet salads. The wine list draws from Sonoma Valley's own vineyards, built to pair with the food.
Following Sam's passing, daughters Samantha and Megan now run the restaurant, continuing it as a family operation with a staff of family and friends. Seating spans an indoor dining room and an outdoor patio.
