Susan Kaufman opened Serafina in 1991 with a simple goal: build a neighborhood restaurant that felt like an Italian home. Christian Chandler joined the kitchen as a culinary student, moved from mentee to co-owner in 2015, and became sole owner in 2019 — carrying forward Kaufman's original philosophy of fresh, high-quality ingredients presented simply in a warm, inviting room.
The menu runs through familiar Italian dishes with some rotation: burrata with roasted plum, prosciutto, and almond; grilled asparagus with fried egg and romesco; house-made pastas like mafaldine alla carbonara; and mains such as chicken confit with Parisian gnocchi.
Servafina has a sister restaurant, Cicchetti Kitchen & Bar, also in the neighborhood.
