The Spot
Izanami sits on the grounds of Ten Thousand Waves, the Japanese-style spa resort above Santa Fe, serving upscale izakaya fare in a casual room meant for sharing rather than formal dining. The menu runs through wagyu, gyoza, bento boxes, and other small plates, with dishes like apple kimchi salad, parsnip-pear puree over wagyu short ribs, and croquettes stuffed with beet and shiso showing up alongside more familiar izakaya staples.

The drink program centers on sake, with a dedicated menu and flights drawn from what the restaurant describes as one of the most extensive Japanese sake selections in North America, alongside wine and cocktails — including ice flown in from Japan for the whisky pours.

Izanami was a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in 2014 and was selected for the Michelin Guide in 2026. It has also been named a local best by Edible New Mexico, the Santa Fe New Mexican, and Santa Fe Reporter.
