Chocolate Maven began 30 years ago as a home-kitchen operation baking honey-sweetened cinnamon rolls, and has grown into a bakery and cafe built around an open kitchen view — a large glass wall lets customers watch the bakers at work while they eat.
The food menu runs savory alongside the sweets: strawberries-and-cream waffles, cheesy eggsadillas, chilaquiles, and a grilled shrimp and mango salad round out the breakfast, brunch, and lunch offerings. The kitchen uses organic eggs, organic coffee and iced tea, and free-range meats, and avoids bleached flour and hydrogenated oils.
On the bakery side, signature items include carrot cake, chocolate raspberry torte, Belgian chocolate torte, and green chile apple pie, alongside the original honey-sweetened cinnamon rolls. Chocolate Maven was included in Santa Fe Reporter's 2025 best-of city guide.
