Intermezzo by Wine Cask sits on Anacapa Street in downtown Santa Barbara, brought back by proprietor John O'Neill as a revival of the original Wine Cask sister restaurant, with a fresh design, menu, and energy. The kitchen works in modern American cuisine with a Mediterranean twist, with nightly specials pulled from seasonal, farm-fresh ingredients.
The menu runs from a Cask Burger built on Certified Angus Beef with fontina and caramelized onions to a 14oz NY Strip Steak Frites finished with herb compound butter — or "John's Way," topped with blue cheese — alongside Prawn Pappardelle in saffron tomato broth, Oysters Rockefeller, a Mushroom Truffle Pizza, and a Short Rib Poutine. The bar leans into martinis, including a Duo Martini Frites served with sea salt fries.
Beyond nightly dinner service, the restaurant runs Events by Wine Cask, handling weddings and private gatherings, and has built a following for both its brunch and its burger.
