The Spot
In Khmer, "Ming" means Auntie, and that's the spirit behind the restaurant: food and hospitality treated like family. Ming's was started by Josh and Korn, a couple whose shared love of cooking grew into a business. Korn's parents fled Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge era and settled in Rhode Island, raising their children on Cambodian cooking with influences from Vietnam, Thailand, and Korea — the foundation of the menu here. Josh brought his own background in barbecue and comfort food to the mix.

The project launched in 2018 as a mobile food trailer and catering operation, then added a food truck in 2019 with a menu built around Asian-inspired fried chicken sandwiches, banh mi, and other comfort dishes. That mobile side still runs alongside the Edgewood restaurant, which serves the same fast-casual style of cooking paired with a 12-tap bar system.

The fried chicken sandwich has become the dish regulars ask for by name, known for its crispy, tender texture and portions that don't hold back. Rhode Island Monthly named Ming's a city magazine favorite in 2024.
