CHOP — short for Culinary Hub of Providence — occupies space inside the Providence Public Library in downtown Providence, functioning as a restaurant, bar, and cafe alongside a chef training program run in partnership with the Genesis Center. The menu draws on global flavors paired with local ingredients, aiming for a mix of tradition and innovation across its dishes.
The dining room is built around a chef demo bar, where visiting chefs, local food producers, and CHOP's own culinary instructors run live cooking demonstrations that typically wrap with a taste for the room. Behind that, the Chef Training Program puts students through a six-week introduction to professional kitchen work — knife skills, line cooking, food safety, and prep and production — with pathways into apprenticeships, internships, and entrepreneurship.
Rhode Island Monthly named CHOP among the city's best in its 2025 rankings.
