The Spot
Calafia Cantina y Fonda takes its name from two words: cantina, a bar or wine shop, and fonda, an Arabic-derived term that in Mexico has broadened to mean any casual neighborhood spot to grab a bite. The food and drink draw on Baja California, shaped by Dominique Gonzalez, a daughter and granddaughter of Mexican immigrants who grew up in Southern California, alongside chefs Quinn Williams and Melody Medina.

The restaurant sits on Pine Street in Portland's West End. Regulars return for a tight, curated menu and cocktails and mocktails built on unexpected flavor combinations, served in a friendly, low-key room.

Travel + Leisure named it a city magazine favorite for 2025.
