Almanac sits on the second floor above Ogawa Sushi & Kappo in Old City, a cocktail bar built at the intersection of Japanese bar craft and the American speakeasy tradition. The program is a collaboration between beverage director Rob Scott and Danny Childs, founder of Slow Drinks and a trained ethnobotanist who works with foraged, garden-grown, and locally sourced ingredients. Scott's own path ran through Queen & Rook, Farm & Fisherman Tavern in Cherry Hill, and Ranstead Room before he partnered with Childs on Almanac.
The cocktails move through Japanese flavors and American terroir, built on seasonal and hyper-local ingredients rather than a fixed, static list.
Almanac was named a semifinalist for Best New Bar by the James Beard Foundation in 2026 and included in Bon Appétit's Best New Restaurants list for 2025.
