The Spot
The Table is a non-profit social enterprise in Portland built around a pay-what-you-can concept. Diners can pay the suggested price, pay what they're able, work off a meal in volunteer time, or pay extra to cover a neighbor's meal — the model sits at the center of how the place operates, not as an add-on.

The kitchen serves locally grown, fresh food, with parmesan fries, sandwiches, and sweet potato dishes among the items reviewers mention most. Volunteers run much of the operation, described in the restaurant's own mission as the heart of what it does.

Beyond the food, The Table frames its purpose around community: eliminating food insecurity, supporting the local economy, and creating a welcoming room where everyone is invited to eat, regardless of ability to pay.
