The Spot
Hammerheads occupies a basement space on Swan Street in Louisville's Germantown neighborhood, entered by descending two steps down from street level. Smoked barbecue anchors the menu, but the kitchen also turns out burgers ground in house from venison, elk, and angus beef, sliders topped with sweet and spicy pickles, and tacos filled with pulled pork, pork belly, brisket, duck, or crispy catfish.

Lamb ribs and St. Louis spare ribs are offered by the half or whole rack, and a soft shell crab sandwich with sage mayo appears alongside the elk burger and truffle fries as dishes reviewers frequently call out. Sides lean into fried-fries variations — duck fat, Grippo-seasoned, truffle oil, garlic herb — plus a smoked cheddar mac and cheese.

The space is small, with limited seating and a compact kitchen, and it draws both Germantown regulars and visitors making the trip from downtown Louisville a mile and a half away.
