The Spot
Costa Brava Bistro sits on Bellaire Boulevard at South Rice, serving a menu built around Spanish and French cuisine. It opened in 2012, founded by Angeles Dueñas, a Madrid native who spent 18 years with the Cordua Group before earning her Certified Sommelier status, and Kitty Bailey, a Houston native whose front-of-house career included stints at Cent'anni, La Mer, and Café Annie before she stepped into the kitchen here as executive chef. Together they bring a combined 60-plus years in hospitality to the restaurant.

The kitchen runs a lunch prix fixe menu alongside a separate dessert menu, and the restaurant hosts monthly wine dinners built around specific regions and producers.

Regulars describe a welcoming, consistent room with attentive service — the kind of place where the same faces return often. Some diners note the pricing runs higher than expected for the neighborhood, but the quality of the food and the warmth of the staff are the more common threads in what people say about the place.
