Our Take

Jianna is Greenville's Italian restaurant with the trophy case to prove it. A Michelin guide selection in its debut year here sits alongside a beverage program serious enough to land a team member on the national shortlist for outstanding professional service — proof that the drink list is built with the same rigor as the plates, not bolted on afterward.

The city's own press has taken note, and so has recognition on a national scale. That layering doesn't happen for a restaurant coasting on a nice room or a familiar red-sauce menu. It happens when the kitchen and the bar are both operating at a level that holds up under real scrutiny.

Jianna is one of the clearer arguments for eating well in Greenville: Italian cooking paired with a beverage program strong enough to be recognized nationally, confirmed by a record that keeps stacking up.

The Spot
Jianna occupies the second floor of a building on South Main Street, with balcony seating that looks out over Falls Park. Chef Michael Kramer runs a modern Italian menu alongside a raw bar of freshly shucked oysters, pairing classic Italian technique with his own additions across pastas, seafood, and shared plates.

Signature dishes include Spaghetti TBG, Char-Grilled Octopus, and Potato Gnocchi — all featured in Kramer's own cookbook, which also carries dessert recipes from pastry chef Alison Legg and wine and cocktail notes from Andrea Royko. Diners regularly cite the ricotta crostini, fusilli, and truffle honey, with dark chocolate tart and cannoli for dessert.

Jianna has made the Eater 38 and Greenville Journal's 2025 city best-of list, holds a Michelin Selected designation for 2025, and its beverage program was named a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Professional in Beverage Service award in 2026.
