The Fly Trap is a neighborhood breakfast-and-lunch diner on Woodward Avenue in Ferndale, open since 2004. It's the kind of place that runs on repeat visits — regulars have their dish, their table, their order down to the modification.
The menu includes Green Eggs and Ham (poblano pesto, jack cheese, seared city ham), Huevos Rancheros, and the Cowboy Curtis — seared flank steak with two eggs and wildwest sauce — alongside a Red Chili Salmon Burger and a full vegetarian lineup that includes the Veggie Rumble, Tempting Tempeh, and Mac Loves Cheese. Salads and sandwiches round things out.
The diner has drawn outside attention over the years, including a spot on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2008 and a nod as Michigan's pick in Food Network Magazine's 50 States, 50 Breakfasts in 2010. Its original founders returned to take over the restaurant again in 2024.
