Baobab Fare has grown into a small group of sister brands. Waka by Baobab Fare runs a food truck and catering operation serving East African street food like chapati and brochettes, while Soko by Baobab Fare is a retail line of sauces, coffee, beverages, chocolate, jewelry, and apparel meant to showcase East African craftspeople.
The restaurant has drawn sustained national attention: James Beard Foundation semifinalist recognition for Outstanding Hospitality in 2025 and Best Chef in 2022 and 2023 (Great Lakes in 2023), plus a 2024 finalist nod for Outstanding Restaurateur.
