The Spot
Moriya Shokudo focuses on Japanese comfort food: ramen with slow-cooked broths and homemade curry, prepared simply and made from scratch. Owner-chef Tadashi Nakazawa moved from Japan to the U.S. and settled in Dallas in 2021, working in local Japanese kitchens before opening this restaurant with the goal of introducing everyday Japanese staples — rather than sushi or hibachi — to the DFW community.

The menu stays narrow by design, built around ramen and curry rather than a sprawling list. The room is small and casual, with limited seating that can slow down during busy stretches. Regulars have taken to the place, returning often for the ramen and curry, and it's developed a reputation as a neighborhood spot with a warm, welcoming feel.
