Lupo opened in 2018 inside a historic bank building on Arlington Avenue, founded by Rick Lopez, who grew up in the neighborhood and also owns La Tavola. The kitchen originally showcased Chef Todd Elder, formerly of La Tavola; today Chef Courtney Nielsen — who helped open La Tavola and worked alongside Lopez at Knead — runs the menu, built around local Ohio ingredients within a New World, farm-to-table frame that leans on scratch cooking and seasonal sourcing.
The format is tapas-style, built for sharing, with a bar program that has developed its own following. Patatas bravas has become a standout on the small-plates lineup, and the room draws regulars back for consistent flavor execution even as opinions on the space itself vary.
