Stagioni occupies a historic Eastover home built in 1926, once known as "the Villa" for its original owner, hostess Blanche Reynolds Gormajenko, whose parties reportedly included poetry readings and champagne-filled pools. Chef Bruce Moffett, who also heads Charlotte's MRG restaurant group and founded Barrington's, Good Food on Montford, and NC•RED, built Stagioni around that same spirit of hospitality and theater, translated into Italian cooking.
The menu leans on Italian staples reworked with seasonal ingredients, including wood-fired pizzas — the sausage pie has developed a following among regulars — alongside a wine, beer, and cocktail list meant to match the food course by course. The dining room keeps the villa's old bones: wooden lampshades, red leather, a warm glow suited to both date nights and larger gatherings.
The space has a reputation for cozy, lively energy and attentive service for special occasions, though portion sizes relative to price and service consistency are recurring points among regulars.
