The Spot
Cantina Louie opened in 2014 as a casual, counter-to-table Mexican spot built around a la carte tacos and Mexican street food, and the Carmel location in South Charlotte is one of several across the Carolinas and Florida. The menu leans into variety: a wide selection of Specialty Tacos, a Fajita Burrito stuffed with steak, shrimp, chicken, peppers, onions, tomatoes, rice, and sour cream and topped with queso and guacamole, and a Carne Asada plate built around grilled skirt steak with rice, refried beans, and a side salad.

Quesabirria Tacos — grilled, cheese-stuffed, and served with homemade birria broth and avocado sauce for dunking — round out the kitchen's heavier hitters. On the drink side, the Mezcalita mixes mezcal with passionfruit and lime, while The 1862 is built on Reposado tequila, Gran Gala, and a homemade sour base, available across eight flavor combinations.
